Weeks of April 25, May 2, and May 9 You will spend three weeks in independent learning groups as we simultaneous read and discuss Brown Girl Dreaming, write some of your own poetry, begin memoirs of your own, and also study prepositional phrases. As a small group you will complete the daily assignments, meet with me for a minimum of 10 minutes to review the material, and finish what is not complete for homework.
Wednesday Watch video: https://learnzillion.com/lesson_plans/7668 Write down five sentences from an independent read that contain prepositional phrases. Highlight the phrases. Read the sentences with and without the phrases to members of your group.
Thursday Notes pages 533 and 536 in purple book. Try 11 - 20 on page 350 and revise "proofreading paragraph" on page 351
Monday Review, share, revise 2 “Bio” poems Review poetry terms (chart) and create a chart on the back chalkboard with examples from poetry readings in class Thumbprint poem assignment - due Friday
Tuesday Group reading and analysis Abandoned Farmhouse Begin work on Thumbprint poem - choose thumbprint outline and begin penciling in poems
Wednesday Continue work on Thumbprint poem - black pen or thin marker all text
Thursday Continue work on Thumbprint poem - add color and illustrations (at least 3)
Friday Thumbprint Poems due - share with group Collect class Wow Passages and add to back chalkboard
Supplemental Materials for any day when finished early
